The theme for February is: “Building the Foundation”.

When creating a new structure, a good strong foundation is a necessary first step in the process. When we are dreaming up and envisioning the end-result, the foundation is not what we usually focus on in our vision. However, if you don’t have a solid foundation, you don’t have a solid structure. 

January was focused on having a vision and making a plan. Now it is time to commit to the vision and the plan and follow through with building the foundation for your vision to manifest. The vision may be tested this month and you may need to make adjustments along the way. We are not quite ready yet to launch ourselves into the air as this is still preparation. The month has a push/pull energy to it that could be frustrating to some and much patience, focus and determination will be needed in the process.

What is needed for a good strong foundation?

1. The right materials. This foundation is not a literal one but rather an energetic one that includes your body, mind and spirit, as well as parts of your physical environment that support who you are. Therefore the materials would include your attitudes, your intentions, your strong sense of knowing, the fields you bring in, the support you need, and the qualities you wish to have and to experience as you manifest your life. You have hopefully discarded and released many “materials” that are no longer useful to you and that you are choosing not to bring into your future. Then there are some “materials” that will remain useful in the building process. Some of you may still be sorting and choosing as more clarity comes in around what to do, where to go and whom with. It is important to trust your intuition as you sort and choose.

2. A good plan that includes balance and stability. When building a foundation, there are layers, footings, corners, and the right position and placement for your materials. The deeper and stronger you set your corner stones, the more stable your foundation. The depth is the strength of your inner knowing and intuition and commitment to your vision. The stronger the commitment, the less vulnerable you will be in unstable times of emotional earthquakes and mental crisis. The balance has to do with making sure there is just enough of each material and too much of one and not enough of another. Will your vision feed your needs? Will it support your purpose? Do you have too much support in one area and not enough in another?

Stability also takes into consideration the balance between the masculine and the feminine, doing and being, active and receptive. As the year of the wood dragon begins on February 10, we may feel that energy wanting to push ahead and jump into action before we are ready. Making sure you take the time to listen and receive intuitive instruction before being impulsive will be very important for stability and balance as you build your foundation.

3. The discipline and focus to see it through despite tests, bumps and doubts. This month can be challenging as there is optimism and a desire to be active and spontaneous which can conflict at times with unforeseen reactions, unexpected events, and turmoil causing drama and crisis, and a need to be resilient and flexible. Watch the Impatience/Martyrdom duo as it can easily run the show. You will need to set good boundaries around what you know is right for you. Staying in your own lane despite what is going on around you is also helpful. The discipline is to stay focused on your goals and persistent in your focus despite any energies from either yourself or others that attempt to derail you.  If you find yourself feeling overly burdened by responsibilities, confused, overwhelmed, depressed or anxious, take a deep breath and remember who you are and why you are here. Refine, reset and modify your intentions as needed to reflect change but stay focused on the end result.

4. Trusting your choices and decisions without obsession and overthinking, and giving it over to spirit. This is an important step in the process as it anchors you to the big picture instead of getting you lost in the details. It may seem at odds with the discipline and focus aspect but it is actually in support of keeping you grounded and on track in building your foundation. Trust also requires that you are able to stay present, listen and notice if anything does not feel right. If so, it is time for an adjustment or refinement to your plan.

Think of building your foundation as building a road where you first remove obstacles and grade the way. Then you place each stone or piece of pavement down carefully, with purpose and in the right position, making a solid path for yourself to move forward on towards your goal. Each stone represents an intention, idea, field, quality or desire that puzzles together. Then you have the mortar that holds them together represented by alignment, balance and personal truth and authenticity.

In light of the Wood Dragon year in Chinese Astrology beginning on February 10, you will need a good strong platform from which to launch the dragon in you, and to land on when you need to take a break and pull back from the intensity and drama.

YOU PERSONALLY

This month you have the opportunity to move yourself onto a new trajectory by staying focused and setting good boundaries around your process and your progress. This is a crucial month for staying awake, present and focused. The foundation is everything. It will stabilize you in times of challenge and act as a landing pad when resilience, resourcefulness and flexibility are required. Don’t take things personally and try to stay out of judgment as irritations are likely to surface.

It is a good month stay in your own lane and to make sure you have enough alone time to sort, decide, collect, process and anchor what you need for building a good foundation. This month you can certainly build resilience and flexibility by being accepting and willing to do things differently. Be compassionate with others but stay out of arguments and drama.

RELATIONSHIPS

This could be a tricky month for relationships that need to be reset, let go of or redefined. Discussion and communication will be important but keep them this side of becoming arguments as that will only lead to stagnation and conflict. Everyone will have their own opinion and as this dragon energy engages, a fiery aspect of relationship will as well. This bodes well for new collaborations around inspiring ideas but challenging for relationships that need a bit of restructuring. Be patient, think before you speak your mind, and consider consequences before you act too harshly. There is a desire to be free and to be spontaneous but impulsiveness will need to be tempered. The month is peppered with times of potentially feeling abandoned, misunderstood, lonely, and even depressed. Nurture your relationship with yourself, spirit and your true support. It is time to let the shame, guilt, self-judgment and blame go and turn towards a new way of relating to the world.

Love is a big theme this month and should be a strong part of your materials list for building your foundation. Love will be examined and questions like “what is love, how and if you are loved, do you love enough” will be part of the process. Keep a neutral space for a new experience of love, acceptance, desirability and satisfaction. 

HEALTH AND THE PHYSICAL BODY

This continues to be a challenging time for the body as old patterns are still being reworked, released and rewoven. It is important that you take time and make an effort to increase self-care and to change whatever needs to be changed in your day to day routines to provide for better support for your body. Your body is your container, your vehicle and a crucial part of your foundation. Some of the materials for building the foundation need to include practices and programs that are aligned with your intentions and goals. Resiliency is not only energetic but physical as well. We always suggest pushing the envelope a bit to expand your physical stamina as you will need it. The end of the month brings a more stable aspect to the physical body and you may feel a sense of well-being that was not there before.

Pay close attention to digestion, skin and joints, they may need a little extra support.

BUSINESS PARTNERSHIPS AND PROJECTS

Despite the push/pull aspect of the month requiring patience, this is a good time to launch a new project or business. However it is not recommended to go for a large investment or purchase. The energy is more about balance and stability as in creating a practical budget, watching your finances and setting boundaries. You can easily get into some delusion and be overly optimistic about the economy and allow ungrounded dreams to dictate actions and decisions that are unsustainable. Your foundation needs to include a sustainability aspect where you consider the big picture and not just your impulsive desire of the day.

Practice being practical, disciplined and detail oriented. If starting something new with others, make sure the communication is open and consistent and that everyone is heard and able to contribute. We are also still in the window where if you have any unresolved business with people or an unfinished project, you will be inspired and driven to clean it up.

ENVIRONMENT

Your personal environment is part of your foundation so make sure you are paying attention to the aspects of balance, stability, support and trust. Do you feel good where you are? Be conscious of the flow of energy and if it takes on a symbolic expression like your electrical system shorting out or your plumbing either leaking or clogging or cracks appearing in your walls, ceiling or floor.

All of this indicates movement, the need for movement or the need to pull back and set boundaries on something.  Your personal environment can be telling in this way just as the greater environment can reflect the same thing on a larger scale. There will be days when things can get cranky and not work so well and the weather will be excessive or unpredictable causing events that are irritating if you cannot hold them in acceptance and neutrality. Practice patience, flexibility, resourcefulness and resiliency. Always remember that you are not the only one and it can always be worse.  How can you create “medicine” from a challenging situation that is testing you?

DATES AND TIME FRAMES

February 1-7

A time frame that can be dramatic either in a good or challenging way. Stay focused on what YOU need to do or change and stay on the side of creative ideas, imagination and optimism. Use the passion to continue clearing rather than engage with others in struggles or arguments. You will feel energized and inspired to get things done, try something new and make a change. Just do this with kindness and patience especially if it involves others. Be conscious of what you need to acknowledge as part of your “materials” list to begin building your foundation. What are you bringing forward from the past, what are you modifying, and what needs to be magnetized that is completely new and different?

February 8-15

Use your intuition and what is in your heart as a compass. Allow new enthusiasm to drive you but avoid being overly impulsive especially when it comes to any expenditure of energy, money or time. Self-control and discipline are very useful as tools to keep you grounded and on track. Try and channel any impatient energy into positive creativity and pace yourself so you don’t burn out. We have powerful New Moon and the beginning of the year of the Wood Dragon so it is easy to put too much on your plate when you actually need to be holding back a little until there is more clarity and your foundation is more solid. Focus on ease and improvement instead of any frustration at yourself or others.

February 9

New Moon in Aquarius, is Friday, February 9, at 3:59 PM Mountain Standard Time (MST). This super moon can bring up emotions especially around freedom or lack of, sense of tribe and community or lack of, and feeling of hope, prosperity and expansion, or lack of. The energy can be up and down and there may be upheavals of unexpected events, some challenging and some supportive. It is best to embrace change, innovation and turn any monkey wrench thrown at you into a positive opportunity for doing something different or differently. Watch overly reckless or impulsive behavior in yourself or others, use self-control around excess and monitor your reaction especially around taking anything personally. This has the potential to be a highly creative and innovative time with new ideas, community building and inspired collaborations if you use some grounded practicality and not just a blow out of expression. Think before you leap.

We welcome in and celebrate the start of the year of the Wood Dragon. Connect with the dragon within, have a little discussion about not burning the house down, and harness this energy for your goals and desires to manifest this year.

February 16-22

Enthusiasm and motivation is the theme for this time. The big picture becomes more important and can be the driving force behind discipline and staying focused. It is crucial to stay in your own lane and attend to your relationship with self and spirit. This window is supportive for relationships in general, in solidifying new ones, refining existing ones and communicating more clearly your needs. Stay out of arguments and conflicts if you can as it is not practical or sustainable to be at odds. Remember that you cannot change someone else only yourself and make choices about how you relate to someone else.

Your imagination and intuition gains strength during this time but don’t impose your truth over others. Instead become a better leader for yourself and focus on your own foundation. This may even require that you take some time for yourself and away from your known patterns. Channel excess energy into physical activity, changing your routine, travel, and doing something new.

February 23-29

This is a good time to get focused and get to work. Make a list, get organized and productive. This will bring you much satisfaction so keep the projects manageable for easier completion. Strive for balance at this time as well and make sure you are spending some time being and not just doing. There is a higher intellectual centered energy that keeps new ideas, insights and inspirations flowing. Share them with others. If you are beginning a new project, business or cooperative endeavor this would be the time to make a start.

The flow is easier with less obstacles provided you have a good foundation, clarity and impetus to move forward. It is a good time to realize some of your intentions and finally see some movement.
